The Health Care System In The U.K.

The health care system in the UK

It is essential to know that the NHS is funded by general taxation and is managed ably by the Department of Health. The services rendered by the National Health Service include free admission to hospitals and free treatment as well. In addition to the free health care services through the NHS, paid health care services are also provided by some of the private health care service providers. People prefer the Insurance mode of payment for these paid health care service providers. They get admitted to the hospitals, get treated and pay the bills through the Insurance mode of payment.

It is important to note that the health care system in the U.K. covers access to General practitioners, NHS centers, Pharmacists, Dentists, Opticians, and NHS Direct. The standard of health care delivered is constantly being monitored to ensure that only the best service is being delivered. Special attention is also paid to waiting times and patient care and safety. Medical and mental health jobs are filled as quickly as possible whenever a need arises.

It is very heartening to note that public sector has come forward to fund the infrastructure and services associated with NHS. In short it can be said that the safety of the patient is the main goal of the health care system in the U.K.

What Is a Locum Doctor?

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve called my surgery and asked for an appointment with a specific doctor, only to be told that they aren’t available and I’ll have to see a locum instead. So what are locum doctor jobs? Are they real doctors, or are we being fobbed off with amateurs and medical students? Could seeing a locum be putting our health at risk?

Obviously not! Locum doctors are still fully qualified GPs who have More
