Heart Disease Risk RaisesBy 67% If You Work 11- Hour Day According To A New Sudy

For those of you who do not want to work beyond the 8 hours, whether you are a street cleaner, a household maid with you nitrile gloves, or a doctor, here is a bit of news you can possibly present to your boss cautiously.

It is true that working day and night can increase the level of income and can also improve the bank balance of a person but new research has shown that those who work 11 hours daily have increased risk to the heart disease and heart attacks as compared to those who work 8 hours a day, by 67%.

What this means is that a person who is working day and night can find themselves suffering from heart problem sooner and more frequently.

A proper analysis was made of over 10,000 civil servants in Britain over the last 25 years. Just under three quarters of them showed no signs of or had any medical history relating to heart problem and angina when the study began. All of the participants in the study worked full time.

By collecting information on the risk factors for heart disease including smoking, age, blood pressure and also the self reporting of the participants, follow-up data after 11 years and that of regular doctors visits. Doctors were able to predict a person’s risk for heart disease. Their prediction rate was improved by 5%.

It has pointed out by the researchers that now doctors when taking a person’s information for heart disease risk must also include that persons daily working hours in addition to the status of cholesterol level, blood pressure and smoking.
