Being diagnosed with cancer is something that can make anyone scared to death. However, there is a lot of hope still remaining depending upon the kind of cancer and stage of the disease you are at. One of the hopeful ways of curing cancer is chemotherapy, but it has its own set of consequences. When you hear your doctor suggest chemotherapy as your treatment it might be sufficient to cause you another shock. However, it is just a part of your fight against cancer though going through it can sometimes feel even worse than the symptoms of cancer itself.

Mental strength is the primary requirement at all times during your treatment. Stress and anxiety can make the situation worse for you and this is why keeping your calm is important to make sure that your treatment goes well. You should also be prepared for the hair loss and understand that it’s just temporary. Hair loss during chemotherapy is one of the most common side-effects but this thought can make you lose heart. However, you should remember that your hair will start growing again after your treatment is stopped.

First few days of each chemotherapy cycle are very crucial and you need to be careful during these days. Medicines usually result in reduction in number of your blood cells, which makes your vulnerable to nausea, injection and few mild symptoms. These symptoms are quite normal and you should not worry about them until you see something getting too severe.

In order to avoid any infections, you must always stay in a clean room and only use the clean towels, bed, sheets, and pillow covers etc. Also, do not use locker room benches or common changing rooms since it also involves increased possibilities of infections. Do not let pets come near you and make sure all your attendants keep their eatables away from you in order to prevent any possibilities of infection, particularly during the first 10 days of each cycle.
