There have been a number of studies conducted in the past suggesting that the regular consumption of coffee can lead to chronic illness in the long term. However, a recent study by a German institute in Berlin has found that people who drink coffee are at no greater risk of contracting cancer of heart problems than other people. Personally, I would just go ahead with the widely held wisdom that too much of anything – be it alcohol, food, work, time off, stress or boredom – is never good for the human body.

The study, which was led by German researcher Anna Floegel, suggested that people should not feel compelled to cut their intake of coffee in order to reduce their chances of acquiring diseases. In fact, the findings even found evidence that coffee consumption could have a minor effect in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes. Since this study was based on a large population of participants, it may not necessarily account for people who consume coffee in particularly heavy concentrations.

Medical research clearly points out the people who have a very high intake in cholesterol are at a greater risk of acquiring heart problems. Just like serious medical problems are more likely to affect individuals who abuse alcohol or who smoke, which is an indisputable fact. However, perhaps common sense would be argue that moderate alcohol consumption or minor smoking may be less dangerous than drinking 20 cups of coffee a day. Drinking too much water can also be dangerous if it is consumed in densities.

Many psychologist agree that extreme diets are usually the consequence of extreme lifestyles, which is where psychological research becomes more relevant than medical research. After all, it is the stress of everyday life, from long working hours at data warehousing centres to major family disputes, are what propel people to indulge in unhealthy activities.

You awake earlier than usual: today isn’t going to be the most fun you have ever had and that, my friend, is a certainty. Your doctor’s appointment is at 9am and although you are in good time – as always, you have to be at work for 9 too – you want to be extra ready. So instead of giving yourself 20 minutes to get to the surgery, you leave yourself a good half an hour. Your hope is that you’ll walk in and be seen in minutes.

Does it happen? No…yes it’s annoying, but have you ever considered these reasons?

…the reality is that most doctor’s surgeries depend on patients arriving pretty much on time

1) let’s say you’re heading to botox berkshire for an appointment concerning a face-lift. You’re then off to the doctor’s immediately after. You arrive at your face-lift on time but then, on the way to the doctor’s there’s an accident on the motorway. Arriving at the doctor’s, you are told by reception that you’re 15 minutes late and will have to wait a further 35 minutes to “see” if they have an appointment spare. You may be livid, but the reality is that most doctor’s surgeries depend on patients arriving pretty much on time. If one person messes this system up, it has a knock-on effect that will drag on for hours…

2) Some patients, as is obvious, take longer than others. Another reason why doctors are often late is simple but often not even registered by waiting patients: taking blood. Many hospitals now expect local surgeries to take blood, which means that everyone has their blood taken in the same place. Taking blood, if you didn’t know, isn’t easy. When a child refuses to stop crying or somebody faints, it all makes the doctor run late.

3) Administration: yes computers do a lot, but no matter if you work in a face-lift surgery or a regular doctor’s surgery, there is admin to be done! Even more so now that GPs are being given more power to use funds.

4) Lastly, if you want to complain, feel free. It is your human right to complain. The one thing we would say is please listen when the receptionist explains the reasons why you are late to be seen. Next time, maybe you won’t get quite as stressed and you have to agree, that’s no bad thing.

See the video for all about the NHS…

Are you in pain? Have you tried several treatment methods, but your pain keeps on coming back? Consider chiropractic care. Chiropractors can assess, diagnose and find what course of chiropractic treatment is good for your injury/pain needs.

What is Chiropractic Adjustment?

First of all you need to understand that chiropractic adjustment is not a hit-and-trial method but a proven scientific procedure that needs years of education and practice to gain the skill. When a chiropractor is adjusting a bone in your body, say spinal bone, he will apply a gentle pressure on your spine by selecting an appropriate method (one out of hundreds of known methods). He will apply a carefully directed pressure to restore the spine to a better position.

The motion applied by the chiropractor momentarily loosens the joints and helps it get back into proper alignment. Thus it relieves pressure on the joints and helps in decreasing the pain.

 How safe is Chiropractic?

After several researches, studies, and proven results, it is found that chiropractic treatment is much more effective in treating certain medical conditions as compared to other clinical methods. More than six government inquiries from independent bodies worldwide have proved that chiropractic health care is safe and effective.

Chiropractors are well-trained to recognize which problems can be treated with chiropractic treatment and they suggest the treatment accordingly. They will have a look at your complete case history and review important aspects of your health. If required, they also suggest orthopedic, neurological, and X-ray tests. Only after all the examination, if the chiropractors find areas of abnormal spinal function, they will recommend chiropractic care program.

Chiropractic treatment may vary from one person to another based on specific needs and you should go for it only when your age, lifestyle and medical permits. It is not that you saw on online ad for HR software and purchase it just because you think this hr software rocks. Chiropractic is a serious form of medical treatment that relieves pain, corrects posture, and improves movement and flexibility. To ensure that your spine is healthy, consult a chiropractor and go for a spinal examination.

Being diagnosed with cancer is something that can make anyone scared to death. However, there is a lot of hope still remaining depending upon the kind of cancer and stage of the disease you are at. One of the hopeful ways of curing cancer is chemotherapy, but it has its own set of consequences. When you hear your doctor suggest chemotherapy as your treatment it might be sufficient to cause you another shock. However, it is just a part of your fight against cancer though going through it can sometimes feel even worse than the symptoms of cancer itself.

Mental strength is the primary requirement at all times during your treatment. Stress and anxiety can make the situation worse for you and this is why keeping your calm is important to make sure that your treatment goes well. You should also be prepared for the hair loss and understand that it’s just temporary. Hair loss during chemotherapy is one of the most common side-effects but this thought can make you lose heart. However, you should remember that your hair will start growing again after your treatment is stopped.

First few days of each chemotherapy cycle are very crucial and you need to be careful during these days. Medicines usually result in reduction in number of your blood cells, which makes your vulnerable to nausea, injection and few mild symptoms. These symptoms are quite normal and you should not worry about them until you see something getting too severe.

In order to avoid any infections, you must always stay in a clean room and only use the clean towels, bed, sheets, and pillow covers etc. Also, do not use locker room benches or common changing rooms since it also involves increased possibilities of infections. Do not let pets come near you and make sure all your attendants keep their eatables away from you in order to prevent any possibilities of infection, particularly during the first 10 days of each cycle.

Every person, and especially every parent, wants to be able to have complete and utter trust in either their family GP or those at the hospital. We want to feel that every person is cared for properly and that each case is carefully investigated to ensure that the patient is fit and well enough to be allowed to go home.

This however was not the case in January of 2010, when a two year old boy was sent home from his local hospital only to die hours later. As it turned out, the toddler had septicaemia and pneumonia, his symptoms included a high temperature and a rash, but the medical staff at the hospital sent him home with nothing more than some paracetamol.

Thankfully the hospital has now been accused of gross failure, the coroner advised the court ‘I consider there was a gross failure in relation to the provision of basic medical attention on January 20, 2010, specifically that not repeating the observations during Lucas'stay at the hospital has amounted to a total and complete failure. The gross failure identified, on the balance of probabilities, contributed to Lucas'death’.

It appears many things that should have been done were not and as a result the serious and life threatening illness were not picked up and treated. This would appear to be a case where, if the parents were inclined to do so, they could file for fatality accidents compensation from the hospital in question. Although this would not bring back their son, it may help them in other ways.

The last thing most people will consider after such a terrible disaster is claiming against the negligent party for compensation, but not only can such action highlight the failings of those responsible, the money awarded can go to raising awareness of illness that can strike and kill with very little warning.

One of the most devastating viruses to affect human is the Swine flu. An individual affected by the Human Swine Flu or H1N1 Flu virus demonstrates symptoms such as cough, sneezing, headache, sore throat, body aches, fatigues and more. These are actually symptoms that are also presented by patients with the seasonal flu virus. These symptoms range from mild to severe.

Experts suggest that individuals who suspect they have the H1N1 virus must stay home for seven days. The person needs plenty of rest. Use alcohol-based rub or proper hand washing methods to wash hands. To prevent dehydration, it is imperative to drink sports drinks, water and broth. Although there may not be enough GP around these days since many GP jobs remain unfilled it is best to see one as soon as possible. The directions of a primary care physician should be strictly followed and hand washing should be done all the time.

The person infected by the virus and other people should cover their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing with clean tissue and through the contaminated tissue into trash. Again they should wash hands and be cleaned. The person should not come in contact with other people if he or she is ill. Antiviral drugs will be prescribed to make the illness mild and make the infected person feel better faster.

Tamiflu or Relenza are recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to treat or prevent the virus'infection. However, most of infected people recover fully without the need of any antiviral drugs or medical attention.

Possibly one of the most devastating disease to strike elderly people is Alzheimer’s. This is a progressive disease that can rapidly develop over time.

Recently a new blood test has been developed that can determine Alzheimer’s disease with 96 percent accuracy. The test is likely to detect the disease before the development of symptoms like memory loss. Alzheimer’s has been experienced by about 5.4 million people in the U.S.

Currently, examining the brain tissue of a dead Alzheimer’s patient is the sole definitive way to diagnose the disease. Physicians utilize behavioural evaluation, psychiatric tests, and brain imaging to diagnose a living patient.

A team of researchers at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine led by professor of medicine Robert Nagele developed the test. The test was able to identify patients with Alzheimer’s accurately 96 percent of the time by examining their blood samples. The test was also able to tell 92.5 percent of the time those who did not have the disease.

Nagele listed 10 antibody biomarkers that are important to determine Alzheimer’s disease. The test is estimated to cost around $200, the price of a full tank of diesel Glasgow, a more affordable price than the present pricing standards for any tests.

Furthermore, genetic testing is currently at the forefront of the more innovative ways to fight the disease. The cause of Alzheimer’s may not be known by scientists but the more it is studied, the more it will be realized that genes have a significant role in the development of the disease.

I guarantee the topic of today’s blog is going to have many regular readers nodding along in agreement, as I’m sure I can’t be the only person affected or annoyed by the difficulties we often have in getting appointments with our own GP. Calling the receptionist at my local surgery has become a masterclass in negotiation techniques as I try and persuade her that my problem is worthy of one of that day’s precious emergency appointments. What really gets up my nose is when the glorified office assistant on the other end of the phone has the cheek to ask me what’s wrong, as if she can then decide whether I need to see a doctor that day. Last time I checked receptionists were not qualified for doctor jobs!

It’s obvious that there are not enough doctors working as GPs in this country. Whether this is because the government is not providing the funds to employ them, or they are all being attracted into better-paid and more “glamorous” lines of medicine like surgery, I don’t know. Perhaps the increased popularity of private medicine is stealing potential family doctors away from the NHS. Whatever the problem, it’s clear that working as a GP is no longer an attractive option after you’ve spent years and thousands of pounds training at medical school.

My own stepfather quit as a GP several years ago, to take on a job as an assessor with the Benefits Agency. He said he had become disillusioned with the increased paperwork he had to do, which was cutting down his time with patients. New surgery managers were bringing in rules about home visits, which as a doctor in a rural community he disagreed with. If the NHS is driving out experienced doctors like him, to replace them with bored graduates waiting for their chance to jump into private practice, it’s no wonder we can never get an appointment when we need one.

You may have all of the luxuries along with all of the money in the world, but without your overall health you will have nothing at all. The simple fact of the matter is that health and wellbeing has taken a back seat plus many of us tend not to give sufficient time as well as importance to it. Hopefully all these very healthy and balanced suggestions are something you are able to easily and quickly incorporate into your everyday life.

1. Zero excess fat.

It is important to maintain your bodyweight and keep it under control. Being overweight can bring about several diseases in addition to discomforts. Those who are overweight are susceptible to joint problems, sleepiness, and diabetes. Therefore it is critical that the bodyweight is proportional for you height plus your Body Mass Index (BMI) is within the specified limit.

2. Physical fitness

Physical fitness is a must with regard to overall health not just for losing weight. This gets the circulation of blood going, helps to keep the joints supple along with helps to keep you happy because of the endorphins! So even when this only a 30 minutes ‘of walk or perhaps 2 hours in a health club try to use some type of a work out!

3. Consume Right

Eat a nutritious, sensible meal. Most of us are not able to always consume each of the food groups, yet what we should do is try to eat small amounts in addition to make an attempt to reduce the aerated, the deep-fried, the greasy as well as cheesy! No one says cut all of them out completely yet we’re starting to scale back the amount plus try to eat as healthy and balanced as you can. Some of our food lacks the nutritive benefit that it once had as a result of modification within farming practice. This means that nutritional supplement the food together with Vitamin tablets. It can help you in the end.

4. Bust the stress and anxiety

This might be just about the most critical overall health recommendations of all. Stress could potentially cause everything from a heart stroke to the loss of hair. This means that do what it takes to help keep your stress and anxiety level at a lowest. Take a dance class, yoga exercises, have fun with your pooch or simply visit a spa!

5. Schedule Check Ups

One more critical overall health recommendations is getting a schedule checkup. Every year take the time to go to get a complete body examination to ensure you are doing fine. In the event that something is wrong it will be possible to make the treatment less complicated. In case everything is fine there is nothing like having a clean bill of overall health. Also, limit your exposure to cleaning chemicals as they can be toxic to your health.

People are arguing that the NHS (National Health Service) should be paying for everything. People expect the NHS to fund all types of treatments and procedures and in particular cosmetic surgery. People are arguing that they pay their taxes so they should be entitled to any treatments they want or need. Requests are being made for the NHS to fund procedures at tattoo removal clinics, for breast enlargements, nose jobs and all sorts of other cosmetic surgery. Is this really what the health service is there for? The argument for these treatments is that they are essential for people’s self esteem, well being and mental health. They need the cosmetic surgery to be able to function properly and happily take part in normal social activities and just general life. Without the treatment being free from the NHS they just cannot afford it and so they must carry on their day to day lives feeling miserable and unhappy. Others hold the belief that the money they pay into the system shouldn’t be spent on people who are only trying to beautify themselves, why can’t they be happy with the way they look? Should the NHS be paying for non medical treatments, when people who have life threatening conditions have to wait months to even get an appointment? Allowing these cosmetic treatments to go ahead is only going to cause longer waiting lists and more hassle within the NHS that there already is. Surely the patients who want these cosmetic treatments should pay for them out of their own pockets.
